Which is more grammatically correct to write in a paper: I have learned much from it. OR I have learned alot from it. I know the statement could be written in a better from altogether but I'm just wondering which of the above is best. Thanks!!

The first one... "Alot" is NOT a word.

First of all, a lot is always written as two words (don't feel bad - it's a common mistake). However, a lot is also typically considered slang. Since slang is never technically correct, you should always avoid it when writing or speaking in a formal situations (in other words, when it's for someone other than your friend). Therefore - you have learned much from it!
