  • Yes, I think that is a familiar problem. Stardom getting in the way of just appreciating music. How else would you explain a phenomenon like the Spice Girls, for instance (not saying that they can be compared to the Beatles)? I like a lot of music by musicians who are no pop stars.
  • By all standards many Beatles songs are pure, unadulterated bubblegum, their best songs came out during their heavy drug usage: In my opinion, their best album and the only one I would consider a true classic is "Abbey Road"
  • No. I think they truly deserved the recognition they got and still get today. Their music is terrific and they were ground-breaking in so many ways. By that reasoning, this theory would apply to any famous band. If this theory applies to anyone at all, I would say it applies to the Rolling Stones. They did some good rock, but honestly, haven't they been singing the same song for 40 odd years? The stuff they have been playing for the past 15 years at least is not particularly relevant, in my opinion. Amorphous, I know you are not overly fond of the Beatles. Let's just agree to disagree on this one. ;o)
  • Yes. Though it is that way for almost every famous musical artist out there. They have one or two hits and suddenly all their music is fantastic? Hardly. ~+~
