  • They are required to tell the truth, but if they're dishonest and it's your word against theirs .. you're screwed.

  • Yes, they are supposed to be their to protect honesty and freedom... by lying they ruin that... although chances are a lot of them do lie... especially in big cases - there are lots of examples of this.
