Google has some free stuff in the "Pack" that might help you identify problems, if you havent already tried that.

Sometimes things like that can integrate themselves so well that normal scans don't catch it. DL something called "SuperAntiSpyware." I got one of those WinPro popups once that wouldn't go away and it's the only thing that fixed my problem. Another good program is AdAware.

It's likely not a virus. It's likely just a pop-up problem. Spyware software might take care of it for you. You should never accept any offer from a pop-up to help with your PC.

If you downloaded anti-virus protection from a website, you jumped from the frying pan into the fire. Never download any type of virus protection for your computer. Spend $40 and Symantec Corporate. its the best out there. the firewalls have firewalls. Have used ours for 3 years and popups are gone, along with all their nasty friends. Its worth the money. Be sure to run a scan every two days.

I use a free program called SpyBot. I initially used Adaware but found that it was putting it's own things on the computer. Spybot doesn't (not that I've found) and has free updates. The popups for the anti-virus software are probably coming up because you have a "cookie" on your computer that is bringing them up. SpyBot will remove it. A quick internet search (spybot free download) will bring you to a download site.

The software you have is junk, and quite possibly the source of the infection. Look up Spybot S&D, it'll probably remove the infection for you.

It sounds as if you are being plagued by 'scareware' - there is a lot of it about. Go to this site http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php download and install, update and run their Anti-malware utility. The free version does the job. I have used it a number of times on folks infected machines with great success. It is one of the current best tools for dealing with these sorts of threats.You can download several anti-spyware products to fight spyware/malware, but you can only use one Antivirus product. You say your own software says the system is clean, but,if you are using just AV, it will not take all forms of threat into consideration, especially those which you have unwittingly invited onto your computer by visiting a bugged site. That is where anti-spyware utilities come in. If you have got one of the scareware products on the machine, it probably does bring a Trojan with it, at least one, so although it is lying in telling you you have a lot of infection, there will be something on there which threatens your security and computer well-being, because that trojan will invite its mates down, which could include anything from keyloggers to rootkit lurkers. Malwarebytes Antimalware kills the self-replicating files and processes which make it difficult to get rid of these pests. Every one should have a copy and keep it updated.

oh dear =/ ive had malwear before and yes i used to get the all clean scans from norton, main firewalls dont cover malwear (dont pick it up in scans, wont delete it) but you can find a wide range of shareware to remove it i suggest search and destroy (also known as S&D) just google search and destroy and ull find it =]

There is spyware that will give you a pop up that says pay and download this to get rid of pop ups. Get symantec it is really thorough. Or save your stuff elsewhere and just wipe everything clean. I completely reinstall windows every couple of months and it runs a ton smoother.
