I am stating up front that i am uninformed-but why would any woman willingly become a muslim?

Maybe because she looked into that faith and was attracted to it.She might marry into it, as well, if her future husband is one.I one is suggesting that Islam makes women subordinate ,that is not true.

There are Muslims and Muslims, like any other group. If her hubby was enlightened and modern-minded, I wouldn't think it'd be a big dea.

Because Islam isn't just the extremists.. Much like being christian doesn't mean you have to endorse blowing up abortion clinics...

Same as most people, for joining most religions -- they've been so steeped in the culture from birth, it never really occurs to them that there's an alternative...

I am assuming you mean Islamic (as in the religion)...Muslim is more of a cultural word (Americans vs. Christian). Perhaps you misunderstand some of the Islamic beliefs. Many beliefs of women being subservient and lower class citizens is within the Muslim culture and not neccessarily with the beliefs of Islam.
