Abusing a child would if I had my way carry immediate physical, not chemical castration and either a death penalty or Life with no parole.

No. I know it's not a popular opinion, I know I'm going to get downrated.
Laws need to be changed in order to distinguish abuse from consentual couples. Right now there are MANY teenagers who have been convicted of sexual crimes against a minor for engageing in acts with a partner a year or two their junior (sometimes a year or two their senior as well). These cases are ridiculous and end up with people on sexual offender lists who are of no harm to the general population (in that respect).
Also I think pedophiles do not benefit from any sort of prison system. I think in North America (and in other parts of the world) prison systems are more effective at breeding criminals then they are at correcting problems.
I think a good alternative is manditory Pschyciatric treatment along with enforcable rules about being around children, possibly in adult only communities, I don't know. I don't have the answer, but I think prison is a bad solution, these people can still contibute to society.

While I absolutely abhor such behavior, I believe the psych ward would be a more appropriate place. These are people too and need help. They were more than likely abused themselves. I'm not saying go to rehab for a few months and be let out. I'm talking a long long time.

My daughter was sexually abused by her father when she was 3.
As far as I am concerned, I think that they should all be put through what they did to a child. Maybe when they have it done to them, they will understand what they put that child through.
Or you could just send them to prision and tell all the inmates what they are there for. They will take of the person for you. They have no tolerance for that behavior.
I am usually a very nice person and only answer questions that I have knowledge in. I always have a positive attitude. This is a touchy subject and I cannot remain silent or understanding.

Prison or Psychiatric Institutions. If they go to prison, it shouldn't be with the murderers though. I saw a show on National Geographic Channel called Supermax Prisons; believe it or not, even hardened murderers have some morals - they won't touch child molesters...together with informants, child molesters are known as "untouchables", and they are sent into their own distinct section in the prison because in any other section they'd be killed instantly. I agree that molesters must be brought to justice, but nobody should just be thrown to the wolves.

Anyone who takes advantage of whatever power they have, over anyone, should go to prison.
If anyone raises their hand, their voice, or interferes with a child in a sexual away. They should go to prison.
All of the above is ABUSE, and all of it is damaging for life.
BUT,
Instead of the general public blowing a lot of hot air, making all kinds of brutal remarks about how they'd cut heads off, or gathering and posturing outside a perpetrators home, for Pete's sake, think about the victims, think about what you can do to prevent such crimes, not only that, try to understand what causes such behaviour.
It really is time the silly emotive responses were stopped, and a little brain power applied to this problem.
We all know, and fully accept, children learn their behaviour.
Now that statement doesn't mean you have to have been a victim of sexual assault to be a child sexual abuser, but it does mean you've been treated badly by someone somewhere, and it's the psychological damage that abuse has caused, which causes any person to behave in an antisocial way.
WE can't just focus on the sexual abuser, because as I say, any kind of abuse perpetrated upon a child is damaging, and it's that very damage which causes the full range of antisocial behaviours.
i.e. A sexually abused child can become a psychological abuser, a psychologically abused child can become a violent abuser, and a violently abused child can become a sexual abuser, or any and all of the above.
The whole point is, we as a society must stop any kind of abuse being perpetrated upon our children, even that little tap on the bottom is humiliating and degrading for the child, that loud yell attracts attention and belittles the child, and of course, constant nasty remarks are psychologically destructive.
Surely as adults all of us possess the ability to calmly, quietly and effectively, communicate with a little child.
The more we practice that behaviour the more natural it will become, and the less monsters we'll create.
You all know as adults how you feel when someone treats you badly, it damages you as a person, it humiliates and degrades you, and upsets your emotions.
Remember this when you deal with thinking, feeling, and emotional children, because they feel the same way you do when they're a victim of any kind of abuse.
When abusers of any kind are caught, we have judges who rely on the public in the form of witnesses,Police Officers to gather that information and any evidence, or expert opinions, a prosecution and defence lawyer, so that in the end, a fair and reasonable judgement of the alleged perpetrator can be made.
Yes I know, some of the judgements seem poor, but that's always going to be, because one of the abovementioned has done a poor job, or witnesses harm the case, because of something they confuse.
You have to be in a court room for the full trial taking all kinds of notes, before you can criticise any aspect of any case.
To rely on the media to draw a clear and fair picture is a huge mistake, after all, the press is famous for "never letting the facts get in the way of a good story".
After all of the above, it gets down to this, "PREVENTION".
We all agree child abuse of any kind is extremely damaging, and that damage is for life, so screaming and yelling abuse at yet another so called monster, all happens way too late for the victims, and demonstrates to any child watching, a kind of behaviour which is just as bad as the behaviour of the person you're all yelling at.
By gathering in a wild pack, you demonstrate loss of control, abuse of power, in that you're part of a mob all targeting one person, and violence, especially with much of what you all say in your emotional outbursts.
To prevent future victim, you need to put all your anger, all your contempt, all that wasted energy into "PREVENTION" It's too late for the victims when you're carrying on about yet another abuser.
All offenders need to be part of some kind of research which must be part of any sentence, especially any release back into society.
All of society must work towards ending all kinds of abuse, because all kinds of abuse is what creates all kinds of abusers.
Remember this, It really is too late for the Victim when you're abusing the perpetrator.
If you really are serious about this horrible problem, then deal with it in an effective way, by getting involved in its PREVENTION.

If a person can do a thing like this it means that they have been very hurt themselves. I think rather than a prison sentence they should be castrated and sent to a mental hospital for ongoing treatment. What happens to children when its their father who does it and they have no mother or anyone else to turn to. i believe they are better off staying with their father rather than an orphanage, after he has been castrated and recieved mental help.

We all hate the actions of an abuser of kids. The real tragedy is these cretins were actually kids once and most of them had abuse in their childhoods. That in no way makes me want to coddle them. They must be punished, but prison does not do a damned thing to rehabilitate anyone that is mentally ill. They should be locked up, at this point in time since there seems to be no cure, maybe forever. But, we need to try some new approach. Forgetting for a moment the cost involved, because this is not my field of expertese, I would lock them up alone away from other criminal minds and only allow sane, normal info to flow into their minds reprogramming non perverted ideas into their heads. They should have classes, doctors, movies whatever, all to do with correcting this aberration. They do not need to ever be in the company of society again, necessarily, but at least not put them in a breeding ground of more crime by letting them mix with other perverts.

When an over 18 year old adult, sexually abuses a child under 14 years of age, that person should get life in prison or the death penalty, no exceptions for any reason.
For cases that do not fit that exact circumstance, we must have some lesser levels of punishment in order for our laws to be fair and reasonably applied.
Teenagers that are dating and just happen to have one too many birthdays in age difference and the relationship consensually becomes sexually active is just not the same crime.
In such cases, when the person that is a little older is convicted as a sexual predator, this is a total misapplication of laws intended to prevent violent crimes against children.
From my own experience, I had sex the first time when I was 14 years old with a friend that even though we were about the same height, he was 17 years old.
I didn't know or care at the time but it was perfectly legal as peer group sex in the state where we lived. This relationship went on for almost a year before he went away to college but in March of that year he had a birthday that put him over 18 years old and what had been legal, suddenly became illegal for him.
I never considered myself to be a victim, he never forced me to do anything, and I have absolutely no regrets.
I'm now 22 and he is 25 and even though we are in school in different states, we get together when we can and have actually had some serious talk of marriage.
It is a terrible injustice to consider such relationships to be illegal and predatory.

I have spoken to experts on this issue whose job it is to treat and lock up these individuals. There is nothing that counseling can do for these people. Once they are hard-wired into sexualizing children that mental wiring can't be reprogrammed. In my opinion, this is a mercy killing. In my opinion the sexual abuse of a child is grounds for execution. I hold my opinion with no remorse. A child victimized by this type of predator carries emotional and physical baggage that is permanent and often amounts to a living death in it's own right. To me, I have no remorse and I personally would pull the switch or inject a lethal injection into an individual guilty of this crime. I will sleep quite well the night after also.

As an attorney that has seen a lot. Yes it is too hard to fathom. I've seen too many get loose or disappear and end up killing a victim that screamed to loud or whatever. Better to keep them locked away than take the chance. An honest molestor with genuine remorse will tell you that he can't stop. He/she admits this and accepts their time in jail and possible an indeterminate admission to a mental health facility so that they keep themselves away from children because they unlike the "experts" realize that they can't be cured.

Imprisoning them for a disorder that cannot be cured is like imprisoning those who are insane. And keep in mind, most things which are "incurable", are usually just "incurable by modern means"...200 years ago, psychosis was "incurable".

When a mind has been hard wired to a sexual orientation towards children, adults, the same sex, whatever, it can't be undone. The only known cure is death. I know I'll get heaps of flak from people who are totally focused on punishment, BUT, child abuse of all kinds is what produces these monsters in the first place, so why isn't anyone doing anything about stopping all kinds of child abuse, not just sexual abuse?
We as citizens are being put under all kinds of pressure, some of us cope better than others, and in far too many cases, when people fail to cope, it builds up a frustration, which far too often, many take out on children, in all forms of abuse.
Society as a whole, including the huge Corporations, have to all change their ways, or victims of abuse will continue to produce victims of abuse, with the end result, we'll just have more and more victims.
Ask yourselves who the real abusers are?
Then you'll know what the real cause of this behaviour is?
