That depends on a lot of factors. Some jobs require more than one person. Others are done most efficiently by an individual. Often a team can get more work done per day, but with lower efficiency than an individual -- that is, the total cost in man-hours is higher, but the job gets done quicker. The inefficiency of a team generally arises from the communication overhead and incomplete utilization which may occur. (people standing around with nothing to do, people having to talk to each other to coordinate actions)
