You need a program of recovery. NA or AA may be a great launching point for you. they provide a support group to help you to maintain your cool when you want to do your drug of choice. After you are established in AA and have a few months clean time, then move on to NA where you will be surrounded by others who have more similar addictions. an alternative to this is to stop one thing totally (say tobacco) and resolve to ween off of pot by rolling X number of joints for the week and allowing yourself only that many - if you smoke them all on Monday then you are SOL for the rest of the week. My doctor suggested a program of weening off of speed when I decided it was time to go clean. but then I was slamming a gram at a time, and spent nearly everyday high. Weening off for me meant reducing the amount (back down to a 1/4 gram) and then putting more distance between each session of tweaking until I could physically walk away from meth without the physical detox issues. I also took up a secondary habit (smoking pot) for a while to help ease me off the hard stuff. I do not know what is easier than pot on your system so you may not have the option of using a substitute drug to get you off of drugs completely. That MIGHT work for you. I do not know you so it is only a suggestion. House cleaning tends to go along way toward lowering the jones. House cleaning is literally what you do. You wash everything, rearrange furniture, get rid of the paraphernalia, get rid of any hidden baggies. For Smokers this may also include washing all the cloths in ones closet (to remove the smoke smell), Repainting the interior (to remove the smoke off the walls and to remove the smell) shampooing carpets, and other similar things all aimed to remove the residues of smoke providing you with an added incentive to NOT smoke - 'I gots me a clean house, I don't want to dirty it with smoke again' Get a hobby - most likely your hobby was smoking a joint and kicking back and letting it take you away. Or munchies or what ever. Get a hobby that is contrary to the habit - like hiking, gardening, something that activates your body and your mind and is opposite to chillin and being mellow.

switch to something like THC food (edibles, or refined oil) but it's a lot stronger so be careful then step down to smaller amounts from there, once you get over the desire to actually smoke, you can get over the desire to get high (unless all you wanna do is quit the actually smoking, in which case, switch to ingestion)
