Well if you can't sleep...there is only one option and that is to be awake. I just go through the hours as best as I can. Nothing I can do about it.

This is something I have to tell my doctor when he tries to give me things to sleep - I don't want to be drugged to sleep then feel drugged up all the next day - I'd rather not sleep and deal with it. I can function quite well - OK, sometimes I burn out, but then I just have one or two nights when I do actually sleep. Then it's back into the old routine. It's been going on for so long now I'm used to it.

medication doesn't always help me. and, I don't like having to always take something to make me fall asleep. I've gotten used to "dealing" with being tired all of the time.

i get about 2-3 hours sleep a nite. i am awake all the time. my wife thinks its in my head but i cant sleep. i take lunsta 3 mg and that does not keep me a sleep. i also take 300 mg seraquel and i still lay awake at night.

if u cannot sleep at night , ur body isnt releasing chemicals, like seratonin ' the happy hormone' this at night gets converted into 'melatonin' melatonin is a hormone that makes us feel sleepy. If we dont achieve adequate melatonin, we cannot fall asleep quicker and cannot achieve deep slow wave sleep. btw, seratonin is converted into melatonin, when we fail in sleeping we are not producing hormones, like seratonin, so it explains why we cannot sleep. SERATONIN is the key to quality sleep and happyness. I myself are depressed and have light sleep and get up Unrefreshed , feel like getting a rope.. sometimes. anyways peace.

i suffer from insomnia, and trust me i have maa bad days dat i cant function or even think properly..

I have insomnia, and I just try to push on and not let my exhaustion show. After a few days though, I'm no joy to be around, I've got no energy and I'm VERY irritable.

I function on 3-4 hours a night. I have no idea how I do it, but it works. After a few weeks of this routine I'll crash and get about 12 hours then back to the routine. I can get little sleep or alot of sleep either way I feel the same it seems. Doctor's have given me meds but I only wake up feeling drugged so I don't take them. I have WAY more energy when I don't even if I didn't get much sleep. Plus the less sleep I get the more hyper and alert I am. I know odd right! My grandmother was the same way...she never slept! I never understood that one and the older I get the less sleep I seem to need.
