It made me believe in myself and this world again.

Dawkins is a good read. Enjoy, learn and grow.

I like Dawkins. He explains evidence well!

I haven't read it. (I have however, over my lifetime, heard the same arguments often enough.) I have seen some critiques of it, and it stands on shakier ground than Dawkins would have you believe. However, as the old proberb says "if argument is weak, shout." Here are some sites which discuss it. http://www.albertmohler.com/commentary_read.php?cdate=2006-09-26 http://creationevolutiondesign.blogspot.com/2006/11/my-critique-of-dawkins-god-delusion-1.html http://jmm.aaa.net.au/articles/18932.htm http://www.fulcrum-anglican.org.uk/news/2006/20061024atkinson.cfm?doc=147 Alistair McGrath's Critique of Dawkins "The God Delusion" http://www.citychurchsf.org/openforum/Audio/OF_Alister_McGrath.mp3 http://www.godandscience.org/ and in case you think that it is only christians that do not agree with Dawkins' hypothoses, here is one from Skeptic.com website, and is an aritcle by David Sloan Wilson, a Distinguished Professor in the Departments of Biology and Anthropology, Binghamton University. http://www.skeptic.com/eskeptic/07-07-04.html You might try reading books such as Dr Kristen Birkett's "The Essence of Darwinism" to balance things up.

I read it. I like the way he made me think.

Janie Read it last year, Dawkins is a great favourite of mmine so I may be a bit biased. Really enjoy the way in which he constructs and expands his arguments. He is a fantastically erudite speaker in real life as well so if you ever get to see or watch him then make it happen. I particularly agree with him on his approach to the indoctrination of children into a specific religion (the child has no say in this as they are totally reliant on their parents etc for influence in this matter) and therefore it should be regarded (in it's most extreme form) as a kind of child abuse. His other books are also fascinating if you want a more in depth view on evolution etc. I would particularly reccommend some of his books with the papers he has presented / articles he has written on a myriad of subjects. The Richard Dawkins website is also well worth a look at (I am 'Wonderer' on there) Even if you don't agree with what he writes I hope that you find the experience stimulating. btw long time no speak... you OK??

I've not read the book but I know Dawkins' arguments well enough - he had a tv series in the uk a few years back, and I have read some of his popular books on biology. I'm an atheist myself, but I don't particularly like him or his arguments - he is far too angry for me, too self-righteous, too fundamentalist. Far too dismissive of people with sincere faiths. He also doesn't seem to understand *why* people believe in religion. He also doesn't seem to *want* to understand why. I'd rather he hadn't become a spokesperson for atheism - he almost makes me embarrassed to be one.

Decent book but don't take everything he says as true. Read the arguments and counter arguments. I enjoyed it personally, his arguments are not new particularly but his is a good writer.

I hope Santa brings me one for Winter Solstice!

I've read it and I wasn't taken with it. Here and there he captures my attention but there is too much jargon in his language for me to follow what he's saying. I'm lost in a sea of memes and genes and Darwinian macroevolution whatever. I skipped several passages in the book because I don't have the heart to pretend to understand it. I do enjoy the way Dawkins speaks about his abhorrence of irrational faith, but I prefer Christopher Hitchens in this regard. I also like it when Dawkins explains a scientific theory in plain language, but Sam Harris does that better. So buy "God is Not Great" and "The End of Faith" now, only for a limited time! (That time being this lifetime.)

i read hitch's book and it made me realize (more than i had before) how ridiculous the bible really is. i read dawkins book and it finally gave me the reasons to switch form agnosticism to atheism, and the courage to avow it.
