  • Of course.
  • The question isn't so simple. What are he police to do once they arrest someone for an immigration violation? Immigration law is federal law, so it needs to be handed off to a federal prosecutor. Perhaps the question should be: should we empower local DA's to enforce immigration law? Of course, that has problems too.
  • No. It's the federal government's job. Police officers are already overworked; why add to their burden?
  • i think our local police force has enough on it's plate trying to line speeders up against the wall. personally, i don't think barney fife needs any more power, he can't properly handle what he's already been entrusted with. peace

  • Yes. I don't think we have another choice. The problem has gotten far too out of hand.
  • We do have the power, BUT with restrictions. The U.S. Supreme Court has ruled that police officers cannot ask a suspected illegal immigrant for their green card. it violates their rights. This can only occur, when the suspect is under arrest and then its permissable to ask for the green card. In my city, many illegal immigrants have been deported, but only legally and according to law.
