I wish! I feel like I am having flashbacks from back in school with all those minuses and I don't care if it doesn't affect my points I just hate seeing them. If you don't like someones answer just point up the ones you do like and move on!!

Either skip it or say why you don't agree. Don't dr it
-
i only see it is a troll tool and yes it should be be removed.
-
Definitely not! If the idiots that anonymously downrate had that ability removed who knows what actual harm their frustrations and pettiness might unleash on society. Better a minus 5 than a real-life attack.
-
Why? Because of a few trolls? Just ignore them. The DR's don't count against totals.
-
No, as annoying as it is when a stinking troll goes minus happy, I think its still a good tool.

To be honest with you, there are certain things about the point system that probably could use some chaging, period. However, I trust that the AB staff knows well enough what they are doing, and that if it is or is becoming a problem, they will work on it and see that to it that things don't get too out of hand. It can take awhile to either get rid, or delete something like that after it's been in the system for so long.

What? And deny people the satisfaction of letting others know they hate them? What fun would that be? LOL The ratings technically are supposed to be used to push the best answers to the top of the list, but you're right, it's being abused. I say, if DR's bother you, turn off your ratings. They don't actually take away from your point total, so who cares? I know it's irritating, but if you can somehow put it in perspective, you'll be fine.

The minus points help sort the bad answers from the good. Yes, it's sometimes abused (as are the positive points), but I believe it's an essential part of the rating system. What would be best, I think... is if the negative ratings required an anonymous comment. It's true people could type a random stream of letters, but anybody who did this rather than write a proper comment would be eligible for report and possibly pboxing or some other form of punishment, like having their ratings privileges turned off altogether. The Anonymous comment would have their username (Anonymous) appear in red, so people would know they were the one who left a DR and they couldn't leave a comment like ''great answer''.
