During the "craze" I was an active player and actually helped organize conventions. I was a member of the RPGA and wrote modules/adventures that were used at the conventions. The RPGA, as a rule liked adventures with positive themes, so I can say, yes it is possible to write a positive themed adventure... Having said that, populating AB with Pixies and Unicorns probably won't make it a positive place... People need a little acid to neutralize the sugar.

When I was a child I was taught the traditional stories of Heaven and Hell, and I heard that Heaven was all sweetness and light, everyone happy and singing praises to God with their harps, etc. I could not imagine a duller place! I think that's one of the main reasons Christianity never got a good hook in me as a child, despite my preacher father and being surrounded by Christian family. The whole notion of a completely good place, devoid of any spice... all salt, no pepper... was too mind-numbing to contemplate :)

Hmm. I know this question may be old, but I say it is possible to create a postive dungeon. Someone may need rescueing, so instead of slaying in order to advance, perhaps questions, puzzles, mazes? Perhaps runes, deciphered with INT of 15 plus INT roll so to say, might say 'Cold'. So cold Magic must be cast on the rune to reveal a trap door to the person who needs rescueing? And instead of harm, try loss of STAT, Spells, or maybe even levels.
