  • It's like advocating for abortion and against capital punishment. I don't get that, either. I also realize that I don't have to, and I'm pretty sure that it's never going to make sense to me.
  • I guess I wasn't aware of that, but, yeah, that would seem so! just like people like Bush are pro-war and pro-death penalty, but against abortion rights. It's OK to kill an adult, just not a fetus?
  • Holding contradictory beliefs (cognitive dissonance) is a difficult skill to master. Yet its practitioners proliferate. points for CF!
  • look PETA have turned into a bunch or first rate wankers ...they shoot there mouths of and rope even denser 'stars' into there half arsed ideas and then these gooses of stars have to back peddle when they find out the real facts ...PETA are opening a brance down here in Australia and trust me we are not Yanks we will tell them to shove it very very quickly
  • Well, when babies are bred to be tortured and experimented on, then I guess I will first to condemn it.
  • No, it's not hypocritical. It's about drawing a line, and being consistent as to where that line is. A fetus is on one side of the line, a fully grown animal is on the other.
  • Double standards. I think if you support life, support it all the way.
  • Very interesting question, Curious one. My answer would be yes. I'll be interested to see some of the feedback that you get on this one.
  • Well think about how much a person raised in poverty and/or resentment could do for the rest of the world. There's a good likelyhood they won't and I'm not saying animals could do something for the world either, but say this un-abortioned baby grows up in a gang and becomes a drug dealer, what then? I'm also not suggesting that all people raised below the poverty line are bad people but the great majority probably won't grow up to good people.
  • well im a member of PETA, and a vegetarian and everything to that extent, and im pro choice...so your question is kinda geared toward me...ill give some input... to me im more biblical in the terms of abortion, i myself believe that you should have the choice on what you want to do to yourself, to an extent, im pro choice to the extent of extreme birth difficulties, and some cases of rape... my view is that we we're not put here to judge, only god can judge us...thats the way i was raised and im sorry if you dont agree with me. i guess you can go with the old saying "opinions are like assholes everyones got one and they are all full of shit" Im completely against that retard we have for a president, and have never supported that dumbass... Being a member a PETA is because i have grown up around all sorts of animals as pets...everything from a fish to a Rottweiler ive had, and i could never eat one, nor kill one for entertainment, or even allow them to be chained up outside. also its not hypocritical to be pro-choice and a vegan, because of the fact that alot of harm can be involved with pregnancies, one of my family members had to have an abortion at about 24 weeks, because they discovered that the fetus's skull was pushed up to the side of the uterus, causing the fetus to die slowly because it was squishing its brain i guess you can say, and it was causing my relative to have the worst pains in the side imaginable, she couldnt even move because of the pain, if she wouldnt have got an abortion, then she would either had a miscarriage or the baby would be born dead... i agree to an abortion to a certain extent as i mentioned above, this is one reason why i do...
  • i dont beleive its hypocritical at all. to be against the slow torture of an animal that can sometimes to on for years, but pro CHOICE seems pretty reasonable. i think that some people should get abortions if thats what they CHOOSE to do. its not about being pro abortion its about letting people choose for themselves. but i dont think people should have the right to CHOOSE to be cruel to animals. it just shouldnt happen. thats my opinion.
  • I enjoy all varieties of meat, including: pig, chicken, goose, cow, bison, fish, quail, emu, ostrich, and all manners of their respective byproducts: eggs, milk, and fur. Nothing gets me as pumped up as being presented with a steak cooked so rare it's still "mooing." The bloody gravvy that gushes forth with every bite confirms my manliness. That I am at the top of the food chain. That I am free to enslave lesser creatures for my own recreation. Of course, this includes training them to do tricks for MY pleasure...until I decide to slaughter and eat them. I mean, is there anything better than taking a slice of animal flesh and charring it on a George Foreman Grill? Then slathering it with ketchup and eating it. Nope!
  • Well, I support PETA, am a vegetarian, am pro life and against the death penalty. I don't believe any living thing should be put to death.
  • I don't see the problem with supporting better care for animals and abortion rights. (I don't support PETA and their tactics, but that's a separate issue.) I don't necessarily see it as a cognitive dissonance.
  • What are you saying, infants should be kept as pets?! I like your style, sailor.
  • First things first........I LOVE ANIMALS!! I also do not love PETA. PETA is the most ridiculous animal rights BS I have ever seen. PETA activitist............join the freakin' military and fight for something. Jeez.
  • honestly, I have no idea how many PETA supporters are pro-choice. I think it's an assumption based on the premise that they are both considered liberal issues and thus there must be a large overlap. There are many cases where this is not true. Civil rights and gay rights are seen as liberal issues, but we have just seen that the overlap is far from complete. PETA claims to have "2 million members and supporters" and that is reference to worldwide membership. A decent size organization, but a far cry from the 47% of Americans who are pro choice according to fox news (I intentionally chose a pro-life source to get the lowest figure..gallup claims it is 49 pro-choice with 45 pro-life) . That would mean you are comparing a statistical sample of over 100 million to one around 2 million. All of that aside, the two issues are too different to generate a scenario of hypocrisy
  • You tell me if abortion is not torture-see if you can listen to the whole commentary. • To me it's pretty simple. Animals are living beings. An egg and sperm developing cells doesn't make a living being until that living being can survive (even if it's with medical help) outside the woman's body. Until that time, it's part of the woman's body and it's her medical choice.
  • I know. They're like, "Save the Iowa Pleistocene Snail but kill the human babies." Strange but true.

  • Is this an assumption or is this a fact?
