I heard on the new this morning that some school don't allow middle school kid to hug their friend or bf or gf. Some even get supensed even though it was a sympathy hug. What would you do to stop this stupidity?

I would organize a school-wide hug day where ALL the students hugged one another constantly. What are they going to do, suspend the entire school? Parents complaining aren't going to bring common sense to policy... but if the kids just insist upon hugging, there comes a point at which the adults just can't do anything about it. Plus, if they DO suspend the entire school, the kids will enjoy a day or few off, eh? What do THEY have to lose?

Have the students organize a rally and get petitions to show the officials of teh school. The school is protecting itself b/c of something that has happened and a parent complained. It is common practice.

haha, we have this rule at our school. it's so dumb. if we hug someone and a teacher or our principal sees us we get iss [in school suspension] for five days. it's pretty ridiculous, i know we've tried to stop it... but it didn't work =/
