I think that the states should be allowed to decide. I'm definitely for gay marriage, but I think that the Federal Government should not have as much power over the states as it does.

It would have to be on a national level. If a gay couple gets legally married in one state where they have all the same rights and privileges as any other couple, what happens to them if they have to move to another state? And how would they file their taxes? If the fed did not recognize the marriage, they would each have to file single at a higher rate. If they adopted a child in state A what would their status be in state B? If one wanted a divorce and the other did not, could the one that wanted a divorce merely move to a state that does not recognize gay marriage and declare a non married status? Too many variances from state to state would throw us back to before civil rights laws were enacted.

I think I have to go with National level...It would be a right bollocks to have it different from state to state...then too part of my personal desire is that ALL AMERICAN CITIZENS HAVE THE SAME CIVIL RIGHTS.... Can't hardly have that if each state makes up their own laws on this issue! Plus I would LIKE to have the same rights I once had with regards to my federal taxes!

I think gay marriage should be legalized but the problem is there are many states against it and if it goes nationally, what percentage would be for gay marriage and what percentage against it need to be looked into. If the percentage is high for against, I think they are better of with state vote rather than national.

It needs to be legalized on a national level. ALL citizens of ALL states deserve to have equal rights!
-
Well marriage is a state decision however for any state to deny a couple a marriage license over there genders is un american and a violation of freedom.
-
the only answer to this is national!... get the bloody thing over and done with ...NOW!!!

Personally, I think it's a federal issue - there should be an amendment in the constitution allowing any two people to marry each other.
