  • I hope that you're marrying her because you love her and not just to bring her to the United States! (No offense intended, but people do all sorts of things for all sorts of reasons...) There is a special type of green card for people who engage to marry American citizens, although I don't know how easy or difficult it is to obtain. Or, at least, there was in 1977 when my father came here. My mother and her parents served as character witnesses for him, and they were required to be married within 90 days of his arrival in the USA. An immigrant who is married to a US citizen is eligible for American citizenship in three years instead of the usual five. A recent development, to stop foreigners taking advantage of Americans for naturalization benefits, is a requirement that the marriage last a certain amount of time. Try http://www.ins.gov for more specific information, since I'm not 100% sure of my facts.
