You know...I have absolutely no idea. But I just wanted to say that is a VERY good question. I think that calls for a scientific study! (I touch type too!)

Different part of the brain. For some people who have a disorder (dyslalia) which affects their speaking.....mixed up words in a sentence or inability to put a sentence together, even tho' they are using their native language...typing it out is smooth and no problem at all. Some people who have had strokes have difficulty remembering the right words and getting them out...but if they type what they are trying to say it comes out fine. Interesting, eh?

Touch typing is a kinesthetic ability, not one having to do with language. It draws from a talent in movement and coordination.
