Help answer this question below.
Cy Young's 511 career wins as a pitcher.
Nolan's strikeouts
DiMaggio's hitting streak
Cansaeco's number of friends he ratted out
Cal Ripken - most consecutive games played
56
All of the complete games pitched records.Especially the 749 Complete games pitched in a career by Walter Johnson.
Probably Bobby Cox's record for being ejected from games. He has been ejected more than 130 times.
2 actually. cal ripken JR.s streak of games started
also CY young's 511 career wins as a pitcher
today's pitchers get 3-5 days rest while old day pitchers pitched every day or every other day pretty much
todays players are also spoiled brats who get to rest almost at will. the coach is at the mercy of his players
Hack Wilson's 191 rbi's for ONE season
1. Rickey Henderson's 1406 steals.
2. Nolan Ryan's 5714 strikeouts.
3. Lenny Harris' 212 pinch hits.
I agree with Squid that Cal Ripken's is going to be the absolute toughest record to break.
"Ripken earned the nickname "Iron Man",[4] doggedly remaining in the lineup, despite numerous minor injuries. He played in a record 2,632 straight games spanning sixteen seasons, from May 30, 1982 to September 20, 1998. He played his 2131st consecutive game on September 6, 1995, against the California Angels, breaking the 56-year-old record set by the "Iron Horse" Lou Gehrig, the legendary New York Yankees first baseman. Fans named his 2131st consecutive game Major League Baseball's "Most Memorable Moment" in MLB history.[5][6] Ripken was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in his first year of eligibility on January 9, 2007."

Actually a coouple, 1 - .400 batting average and 2 - 56 gane hittng streak. Also complete games and 300 wins.
The amount of times the yankees won the ws
Cy Young's 511 wins.
Noone will beat Cal Ripken Jr.'s consecutive game streak! NoWay! He will always be the iron man
Bob Feller's 36 complete games pitched in 1946.
If anybody ever beats DiMaggio's hitting streak i promise i'll streak thru Times Square!
Joe D 56 game hitting streak
What about Lou Gehrig's Career Grand Slam Record? 23. That record is still standing and I think the only one that has come close to beating is Manny Ramirez with 20.
I have another that I have to look up cause I can't remember his name I'll mention it later but for now Frenando Tatis record of two grand slams in one inning,no man will ever hit three grand slams in one inning, thats about impossable
Cy Young - 511 wins...
Johnny Vander Meer - 2 consecutive no-hitters...
Nolan Ryan - 5,714 strikeouts...
Nolan Ryan - 7 no-hitters...
Pete Rose - 4,256 hits...
Ty Cobb - 54 steals of home...
Joe DiMaggio - 56-game hitting streak...
any hitter batting .400 in a season...
any pitcher winning 30 games in a season...
joe jamagio 56 consecotive hits
cal ripken jrs consecutive games played streak
Definitly Cy Youngs wins
There's way to many but overall I'd say Cal Ripken Jr's consecutive game record. The other three were Rickey Henderson's steal record, Nolan Ryans stikeout record, and the Yankees 5 world series in a row record. Well, actually Frenando Tatis record of two grand slams in one inning won't be broken either.
Cal Ripken's most consecutive games played in a row
The only one no one said here is the 1998 Yankees who had 125 wins
It's gotta be Cal Ripken's consecutive game record. Untouchable.
Inside the park home runs, 55 in a career by Jesse Burkett. Can you imagine seeing some of the things that took place back then , in games today ?
Cy Young's 316 losses.
Steve Carlton's 90 career balks.
Pete rose and his gambling problem.
Yeah, either Cal Ripken's consecutive games played streak, or Joe DiMaggio's 56 game hitting streak.
The Number of World Series The New York Yankmee's have won...or...Ted Williams Longest home run in Fenway Park...
I think that Joe Mauer will hit .400 one year. He's one heck of a hit machine!
Jack Chesbro's 41 victories with the 1908 New York Highlanders (now the Yankees).
If you think about it, Johnny Vander Meer's two no-hitters in a row might qualify. In order for it to be broken, one has to pitch 3 in a row, which might be impossible.
They will all be broken eventually.
Yes..Cy Youngs career win total and Dimaggios hit streak
Vander Meer's two consecutive no hitters. It will be hard enough to tie, but to break the record, somone will have to pitch three straight.
Cy Young 511 wins
The time's Yogi Berra got hit in the chin,
Or how many times Derek Jeter rubbed one out to Alex Rodriguez.
pete rose hit streak
Joe DiMaggio's 56-game hitting streak.
Pete Rose's hits record 4256.
Chicago Cubs record for more years waiting to win a World Series again.
Chicago Cubs for most games wins in a season.
Barry Bond's 756 homeruns.
in my oppinion i say all of them will be eventually broken besides people are coming up with knew techniques and getting better at hitting the ball as well as pitching and fielding. i say with this technology they will all be broken. maybe not bonds' homerun record, though he cheated and took sterroroids so he cheated but i still have my money on them all beaten
Ty Cobb's .3664 Batting Average Career.
My favorite answer to this will always be:
Most consecutive no-hitters thrown: 2, by Johnny Vander Meer (in his rookie season!)
Cy Young's 511 wins.

You're reading What Major League Baseball record do you think will never be broken?

We may not even see any more 300 game winners.
by LynfromNM on September 17th, 2007
That's possible indeed. No manager, owner or team in their right mind would put premium pitchers through such a workload anymore, for starters. Thanks Lyn.

Very true, thanks!
by Ed the Jetpacking Headbanger on September 18th, 2007
You get my vote. Its most likely the only record that stands no chance of being broken. Unless of course Bionic arms become common place.
