  • I am more of the experimental type. I do follow the recipe strictly the first time I make something, but every time after that I like to add my own flavor to the dish.
  • I think I do very well, recipes don't always work in the best possible way, I have to add more stuff. When I cook for others there is never anything left and everyones gets their fill so I say yeah I'm an ok cook.
  • I love to cook. I usually follow a recipe the first time exactly and may continue to do so if it's easy and is a 'Wow!' recipe. Most times I take the taste and adapt it to my lifestyle and what is usually in the pantry. Most times I am literally throwing ingredients together based on what is in the fridge/freezer, I don't plan my menus in advance.
  • i guess i am a good cook! that is what i have heard from my husband and friends. well when i have guests over i do follow a recipe. but when we are alone i try to experiment with my cooking till it tastes good.
  • Sigh...I wish I was the type of cook who could fiddle with the recipe, but, alas, I have to follow the recipe to a "t" or the taste becomes questionable...
  • I do what the dish requires. If I need to follow a recipe exactly (especially for baking or for new things) I do that if I'm not familiar with the method or how it will come out. But I am quite the stickler for things done the best way so if I can figure out how a dish is supposed to come out and I don't like their method or their choice of ingredients I will change it or adapt it. There are a few things I just do on my own, no recipe, things that I learned from my mom or others. I like seeing recipes from books and magazines to give me ideas, even reading great menus from restaurants gives me ideas I hadn't thought of and then I try to do it the way I envisioned it, the way MY tastebuds want it to taste. People love my cooking. I cook for many people if they don't have time because I love to do it so much. I strive to get the most flavor at every step. When it comes to cooking I am a perfectionist that tries to be happy with a dish when it makes other people happy but who secretly wonders CAN I make it better, how can I make it better?
  • i do it about half and half, i may follow the recipe but then again i will just throw some stuff in there also till i like the taste of it
  • I do cook, but I don't own a recipe book. If I try to follow a recipe the dish comes out crappy.
  • Well to begin I am not a good one... But normally I just find whatever is in the fridge and throw it together. I am usually poor with little food to eat LOL
  • I hate cooking and will get out of it if i can.
  • When baking it is pretty essential to follow the recipe..at least in terms of proportions of liquid/fat/sugar/flour..there is a chemical interaction that needs to be preserved..you can add things like nuts or chocolate chips, but the basic recipe needs to maintain its integrity. When I cook I go with what seems good to me..soups, stews, roasts, casseroles..I may get an idea from something on the food channel and then make it according to our tastes, with substitutions, etcetera. :)
  • I'm a passionate cook who never measures and eyeballs everything. Fortunately everything turns out perfect; in all my cooking years I’ve never had a complain.
