Why can't you flag duplicate answers? I sometimes find identical answers but then I can't flag them.

I believe it is one of the many tasks on the admins list of improvements for the site.

It wouldn't work well. Sometimes the second person has more to offer than a simple answer. Why should the user (and community) NOT be given all the answers, and allowed to chose which is best. Yes... Some do it to get points, but, for example, I always try to give more than just the answer for those I answer. Now, duplicate answers by the same user is another story.
