Because Sabbath (which runs from Friday sundown to Saturday sundown) was past, sometime in the wee hours of the night, Jesus rose from His tomb. Some might make a case that technically, the Saturday might not have reached midnight, thus not being Sunday yet, but lest you forget, the Jewish day is from sundown to sundown, hence after Sabbath on Saturday (at sundown), their next day (the first day of the week) officially began. The early church grew to call this "The Lord's Day". This developed into the traditional Sunday service.

  • Pagans worshiped their god, the Sun god, on Sunday. Constantine "converted" this day to a "Christian" holy day so as to marry these religions.
