  • Yes, we used to raise them. Had Indian blues. A neighbor had over 300 that she let loose all over the canyons. It was so exciting to see all those birds during breeding season fanning their tails in the road and in front yards. She gave us two hens for the 2 cocks we had. And then we 'made more'.
  • No but there was a story about one I read a while back. The peacock was a family pet and lived on a farm in Surrey (UK). The farmland backed onto a petrol (gas) station and when the bird was in season (or whatever it's called) it would make the mile long trek across the fields to the station forecourt where the object of it's affections lay. The bird was in fact infatuated with one of the petrol pumps and spent a considerable amount of time each day strutting past it backwards and forwards with his tail feathers on full display. It did the same thing each morning and I think eventually, gave up when the pump was not impressed.
