  • Your best bet is to take it down to your local Fire Department and ask them. If it is still servicable, but discharged, they should be able to recharge it for you. Worst case is that they tell you where you can dispose of it.
  • I wouldnt put it in the dumpster,check with the fire brigade nearest you.. they will probably remove it.
  • Ultimately it should end up in a steel scrap yard rather than a dumpster. Check your yellow pages under “scrap metal”. A scrap yard may even pay you cash for it.
  • firstly discharge it. take off any plastic handles, etc, and then put it in metal recycling.
  • I've found that the best way for this is to throw it out your car window right in front of a semi tire. Trust me, with all the other stuff that'll get on the highway, they won't be worried about some stupid little fire extinguisher.
  • I would take it to my local fire department and let them dispose of it properly.
  • Toss it in the trash can.
