  • Certainly there are some passages in which a...spiritual understanding is necessary for the passage to make sense. However: the Bible is a very advanced work of ancient, foreign literature. Far more often than a lack of spiritual insight, a lack of education in grammar and vocabulary results in misunderstanding the Bible. This is especially true of the King James Version, which uses a very early form of Modern English. That is: an archaic form of the English language that is in many particulars no longer in use. The great majority of English speakers are not fluent in that language and the great majority of KJV readers make no effort to become fluent in that language, and thus the great majority of KJV readers fail to correctly understand many passages.

Thumbs up for sharing! Not exactly. I only accept the King James Version as the Divine version of God. I challenge you to a long debate that can take weeks to months. Obviously, you will run away as usual. Let's start this discussion to see what effort I can show. Quote: "Certainly there are some passages in which a...spiritual understanding is necessary for the passage to make sense." Actually, most of the Bible is symbolic. Symbols and numbers can be used to reveal or conceal spiritual truths.

Quote:"Far more often than a lack of spiritual insight, a lack of education in grammar and vocabulary results in misunderstanding the Bible." Literal interpretation asserts that a biblical text is to be interpreted according to the plain meaning conveyed by its grammatical construction and historical context. Quote:"That is: an archaic form of the English language that is in many particulars no longer in use." That's why the Merriam-Webster dictionary supports Archaic English. Besides, by the lack of knowledge in your answer: the language of lawyers and laws is filled with archaisms such as heretofore, hereunto, thereof and etc. What a big *Facepalm*

Yes...and not a one of them is worth spit. The fact that you don't know that my answer is valid, and that you use red herrings and other logical fallacies in your attempt to criticize it (which is usual for you), go far to prove the point.

Quote: "Yes...and not a one of them is worth spit." You are the example in John 8:44 of no truth is found in you. The Bible is not a joke as you see it. Biblical inspiration is the doctrine in Christian theology, knowing the human writers and canonizers of the Bible were led by God so that I, you and everyone else interested in the teachings of the scriptures can have a reliable source to trust in.

"Far more often than a lack of spiritual insight, a lack of education in grammar and vocabulary results in misunderstanding the Bible." - This is true. One prime example is Matthew 5:3 " Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. ". This is where so many people mistakenly believe that they will go to heaven when they die. If you break down that passage word-by-word and learn the meaning of each, you'll find that the little word "of" is a booger in how people interpret the statement. The word "of" is defined as "from" - not "in". This supports John 3:13 which says, " And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven." This means that "NO ONE" will go to heaven when they die. John 14:2 says, "In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you." - God intends to destroy the earth by fire and rebuild it - this is one of the "many mansions" from ("of") heaven that the passage talks about, and this is where man will spend his days - not following God around in His house all the time. not only for the Bible. If a person can't communicate adequately in his own everyday language, how would he hope to understand the more complicated context of the Bible? I too prefer the King James Version - it's what I was raised on and it's what I am able to better understand. I believe that the modern translations are more apt to be the ones that misinterpret.

1465, Matthew 5:3 is symbolic in the sense of, those who humble themselves will be exalted, and those who exalt themselves will be humbled meaning, humiliated. John 3:13 proves Jesus is before all things. Colossians 1:18 "And He is the head of the body, the church. He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in everything He might be preeminent." In John 14:2, it is great that there will be mansions prepared in Heaven. As for God destroying the Earth, there's nothing wrong with that, since mankind is already destroying the world, but God will destroy it and then restore it. To modern bible versions, they are garbage.

  • The Bible is meant for everyone's level of understanding. The better educated can read the deeper contexts that are contained within. But even if it's only the 10 Commandments that you understand, you have basically all you need to lead a decent and moral life.
  • The scriptures are a spiritual teaching, leading to eternal life in the spirit, hence they are not only to be read with reasoning but with the spirit. 2 timothy 3:16 All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, John 5:39-40 You search the Scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life; and it is they that bear witness about me, yet you refuse to come to me that you may have life. John 3:6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Luke 24 :44-45 Jesus said to them, “These are the words I spoke to you while I was still with you: Everything must be fulfilled that is written about Me in the Law of Moses, the Prophets, and the Psalms.” Then He opened their minds to understand the Scriptures. John 16:13 When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth, for he will not speak on his own authority, but whatever he hears he will speak, and he will declare to you the things that are to come. Matthew 11:25 At that time Jesus declared, “I thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that you have hidden these things from the wise and understanding and revealed them to little children; Psalms 119 Blessed are those whose way is blameless, who walk in the law of the Lord! Blessed are those who keep his testimonies, who seek him with their whole heart, who also do no wrong, but walk in his ways! You have commanded your precepts to be kept diligently. Oh that my ways may be steadfast in keeping your statutes! ...
