I believe the Mermaid is a descendent of Loch Ness. Why else did they give a female derivative of the name. Nessie.
  • No. *** Mermaids: as far as I know, the only evidence is anecdotal. I.e. someone saw something that they THOUGHT was a mermaid AFTER hearing tales of a mermaid. *** Loch Ness - originally the legends described a LAND creature. After centuries the legend CHANGED to describe an aquatic creature. This seems sound reason for discounting the legend. The dearth of evidence is supportive of that conclusion.
