I had it fitted two weeks ago. I haven't had kids so it was quite painful but not un-bearable. Doing yogic breathing (long inhalations and exhalations through the nose) and closing my eyes almost meditating helped a lot. It didn't take very long. I was in quite a lot of pain and experienced nausea and some dizziness. The discomfort and tenderness lasted me about 6 days which isn't usual, but I think that's due to not having had kids, as my cervix and uterus are tighter and more sensitive. My doctor warned me that I could be bleeding every day for 6 weeks or up to six months in the worst case, then periods would significantly lessen or stop. I just spotted for a few days. My vagina was tight and inflamed, (but not painful) for a good ten days, and when I have sex now it is still slightly tender. Overall I am okay with it but only time will tell what changes may occur. One noticable difference is that my breasts have swollen up making them look fuller and perkier. My nipples are bigger and very sensitive to touch, so i'm not complaining about that. Weight gain and mood swings are possible, but not as likely as with the pill. In general not having to use condoms (as I have a long term partner) is amazing, and I feel much safer with the coil. I hope this helps you.
