I have my friends who more than just my friends. We know each other well and know more than other people do. It takes trust and will to achieve this. The bond in which one friend sees will be a different one for another person.

Sometimes I find people that I share this type of profound connection with. It is very special. As a believer in reincarnation I feel that I may be recognizing a friend or loved one from a previous lifetime. This might also explains why some people feel like broken glass to me when there is no obvious reason for it.

Yes, most of the time. This comes naturally to humans, you don't have to do anything special to have that experience... just being human is sufficient. However, that experience is still absent for many of us much of the time. The primary reason is that there's "interference" from our own minds which drowns out the sense of being connected, much like loud music will drown out the sound of a distant train. So the way to experience this is to turn down the noise level in the mind. Meditation helps with that, and there are certain developmental "milestones" which also make a big difference, such as coming to understand the structure of one's own identity. The reason this matters is because the mind's preoccupation with personal identity (ego) is the major source of noise. When that gets quiet, this realization of connectedness is right there, like a distant train with an infinite number of cars. :)

Yes. I have no trouble accepting people into my heart right away. I feel very close to them right away. My problem has always been letting them drift off into oblivion from lack of contact. I don't do that anymore. I find being able to keep in touch through the Internet has helped. I can up date them and receive up dates daily if necessary. I also cherish them more than I used to. I think it's my age that has made that difference. I don't feel that sense of immortality I did when I was younger.
