I feel bad for the people in Texas having a hurricane, but do all news stations be on the hurricane at the same time? Why not take turns and just one news station handle the fricking thing, the rest can concentrate on news!

No, they don't have to. Don't take turns because all afraid of missing out on the breaking news, tragedy of the moment, who decides who's turn it is, some only listen / watch certain stations. And there are more options to the public then listening to news all the time, regardless if there is a hurricane or not -- most of the time you will not miss anything of importance, and if there is, it will be repeated through out the day, week year.
