Unique as in "celebrity unique," where your child gets beat up every day at school ? Or unique, as in not in the top 50 names at the moment ? I am a fan of names that are derived from my ancestry. My favorite, if I'd had a boy was Rhys, which is the Welsh spelling of Reese (pronounced the same) - but the spelling alone makes it cooler - and it's not a "wacky spelling," those drive me nuts - it's the original spelling from it's origin. Cillian (pronounced Killian),Keiran, Nolan, Quinn, Tiernan (Irish/Welsh). Asa (Japanese). Dante, Massimo (Italian). Stellan (Norwegian). Okay, I think that's enough !

If they are to be unique, they won't have been used yet, so there can't be an answer for you.

hmm unique... depends on what you like... i know two little boys named "casual lee" and "prosper" but i feel bad for them haha. poor boys are going to get made fun of when they get older. my friend has a son named kyren (kie-rin) and i love that name. im also pregnant right now with a little boy and we decided to name him cody.

If my husband and I have a boy we will name him Hooper. My husband is a complete basketball freak and that is how we came up with the name. You can usually come up with your own unique names by thinking of things that you like.

My favorite source for baby names is http://www.ssa.gov/cgi-bin/popularnames.cgi which is a social security administration list of babies first names, registering for social security numbers since 1880. If you include top 1000 names, and go back a long way, you can find some really odd and obscure names.

Well I thought it was really cool when my niece just named her baby boy "Silas James". I also love the movie "Ladyhawke" with Michelle Pfeifer and Rutger Hauer and his name in the movie was Nevar (Nuh-var), so I always thought it would be neat to have twins (a boy and a girl) naming him Nevar and her Nevaeh (which, of course, is Heaven spelled backwards).

Thirty years ago I thought I had a unique name, (Cody) But lately it seems that every time I turn around I meet another Cody. My daughter even dated a boy named Kody, but we just decided he was too dumb to know how to spell his own name. I am 53.

When my boys were born their names were pretty unique but they are getting more and more common. Their names are Tristan and Gavin.
