I don't like him, I think he is a terrible role model for young kids and players and I think his presence and the circus that goes around him actually hurts the chances of his team to succeed. But by the end of this season he will almost certainly have hit more home runs than anybody in the history of the game, so regardless of the issues above I don't see how you can leave him out. He is one of the best hitters baseball has ever seen, and was a Hall of Fame calibre player even before he is alleged to have taken performance enhancers. To have a Hall of Fame without the games all-time leading home run hitter in it would make a farce of the whole concept of a Hall of Fame to me.

If he has taken, which is proven, that he used drugs to acheive his success I believe he should not be in the hall of fame.

I think if Barry is refused entry into the Hall of Fame, then all players from that error should also be refused entry, and that all records and statistics should be removed from MLB stat and record books. I don't approve of him taking steroids, but the only reason people hate him for it more than other players that took them is because he was successful while doing them. I've heard stats that say 60-75% of players in that era were on steroids. And, all of the blame should not be put on the players. Team owners and MLB were all aware of what was going on and instead of doing something to stop it, they turned their heads and counted the money coming in as a result of the steroids. Yes, I think Barry should be allowed into the Hall of Fame and his records should stand in the books. Whether it was right or wrong, he was playing within the rules that were being set by the league.

dude he broke the homerun hit record, i mean come on. if he didnt get into the hall of fame then that'd be just wrong. sure he's taken steriods to help him but every1 does it.

No, I believe Hank Aaron's the real true home run king. Barry Bond's just totally disrespected the game and embarrassed me that I even love the sport.

If barry bonds gets elected!! so should pete rose.
-
of course he has hit more homers than any one ever it is the baseball HOF not the we are honest and upstanding citizens of baseball fame group

Yes, alas. He is one of those sports figures who have such bad personalities that they shouldn't be anyone's hero. The tennis brats and the basketball fighters and a lot of others fit in this category. But his record can not be over-looked. As to steroids, Bud Selig so messed up the issue that it would be unfair to punish anyone unless he had been caught red-handed (Rafael Palmiero is the only Hall of Fame level player I know of). Even if we 'KNOW' he did it, this is America. Innocent till PROVEN guilty. Again, alas.

Hall of Shame

HE is the best hitter on steriods ever he would be really good without steriods he should most definatly make the hall of fame.
-
Absolutely. He is the only person ever to hit 500 home runs and steal 500 bases. For that alone he should go to the hall of fame. And if you don't let him in, where do you stop? More than half the league was on the juice, including the pitchers he faced. And in a league full of juicers, he was still the best of the best of the best. That said, he does deserve the dreaded astrick by his single season home run record and his home run record. Anyone during the steroid era deserves that.
