What is the difference between transparent and translucent?

transparent is see through, translucent is blurry.

Transparent describes something of which you can see through it. (A window glass, lens) Translucent describes something that lets light pass but you can't necessarily see through it (Lamp shade, curtain).

Lucent implies water-like transparency. Hence distorted? Transparency... just means see through.
