A long while ago, Auf Wiedersein Pet - one of the funniest shows in England at the time. It launched the careers of Jimmy Nail (doing anything these days?), Timothy Spall (The Last Samurai) and Kevin Whately (Inspector Morse).

- Well, I'm not sure if I have pinned down all the reasons exactly, but I will say that I have never watched a show that consistently used so much vulgar and degrading language towards women. It was really just too much for me.

At my age, I can't even begin to count them let alone name them all. It probably started with Bonanza and the Wonderful World of Color, Car 54 Where Are You?, Our Miss Brooks, Green Acres, The Munsters, I Married Joan, I love Lucy, Get Smart, All in the Family, Cosby, etc, etc, etc.

- Oh I loved the Rifleman. I thought it was so cool that there was a young person in a Western and of course because I was horse crazy, anything with four hooves was tops in my home:-) But I also think we saw so many of these episodes because we only had a few networks to watch. There were only 3 big networks and the others didn't make there own programing much other than syndicated shows and not even a lot of those. And there were lots of old movies on, variety, comedy specials like Bob Hope, the Roasts with Dean Martin, so much on just a few channels. I almost think there was more interesting things to watch back then LOL!!!

- I agree! With a thousand channels, it's kinda "dumbed down" the programming, (most channels just throw old series on there and let 'em fly)! Or, worse yet, REALITY everything! Have you seen that one reality show where the woman runs around screaming about her roommates about 90% of the time? I watched 10 minutes (because someone told me about it), and it was purely ridiculous! I can't believe people show "the world" exactly how stupid they act at home, like that! But, evidently, they have thousands lined up to take their shot at "in-FAME-y"!

- I too am amazed at what people will do in front of cameras to gain their 15 minutes. And what they will allow done to them, too. I miss good stories, both serious and funny that didn't involve stunts or disrespect, yelling or poking fun at other people. I have found a few channels that I like but I've had to move up to HD to get them. Some wonderful channels with nature and historical things and my favorite, I'm ashamed to admit, the KungFu channel lol!
