  • Almost all cars and small trucks get 30+ miles to the gallon. They have had high gas prices of over 50 years, and need to drive fuel efficient cars.
  • Europeans tend to drive smaller cars, and they buy gas by the liter instead of the gallon, otherwise it's probably about the same. I was in Liverpool England a few years back and was surprised they measured distance in miles, I'd always thought everything was kilometers over there. I was also surprised they drove cars made in France and other places we Americans would never imagine cars coming from.
  • These days I would be disappointed to average less than 40mpg. I hired a Peugeot 307 in England last year and according to the dashboard display I got 62 mpg from it. I had a two week holiday, drove all over the country and didn't fill up once.
  • I would say your answer is really rather meaningless.
