  • Clean the mouse port and make sure the mouse is properly plugged in. If that doesnt work, the motherboard may be damaged. The damage might be caused by plugging and unplugging the mouse when the computer is turned on. Dirt on the motherboard might cause problems; try cleaning it with compressed air.
  • Are you sure 100% If you are, then plug another mouse into your computer and see if it works. If you are still having problems: mice (normally) come with 2 plugs to attach to computer: USB connector (flat, oblong one) and a PS2 (round one). If you are using the PS2 to connect it to your computer and you unplug it while the macine is switched on, it will not work - you have to re-boot. USB on the other hand can be plugged in at anytime. If you are using USB, check to see how many places there are for you to use a device with USB plug - try them all. Finally, and it won't stop it working on one but not another, but, unless it is optical (eg, does not have a ball inside it) then give it a clean by turning it upside down, removing round cover, taking out ball and gently removing the crap inside stored on the wheels etc. Hope this helps.
