  • well why do you? are you unhappy in life? is something bothering you?
  • Do something positive and good for YOURSELF. Life always seems a little bit brighter when you have a good day. Treat yourself to something and don't worry about pleasing other people for a change. But don't carry it to an extent that you become selfish.
  • Because thinking differently takes practice. You have to be conscious of when you are thinking negatively and then examine the situation to see if your negative view is valid. A lot if negative thinking comes from thinking errors. There is an old book that is a great tool to help change your cognitive behavior for the better. Felling Good by David Burns. It lists all the thinking errors and then gives you exercises to help you examine your thinking. One exercise that I remember is before you go to an event or place that you believe will not be fun, will go bad etc., you write down all your thoughts about what it will be like. When you come home you compare what you thought would happen with what actually did happen. Its amazing the difference if your the type of person who predicts negative outcomes.
  • Because that is the way your brain has been written over and over and over. You need to reprogram your brain and stop the negativity. Whenever you think something negative, stop, and rewrite the sentence, positively. It can be done. I've done it myself and I've seen it happen to others. Always living in the negative is very destructive and will tear you down and all that you try to do.
  • Because you need to practice positive thinking and believe in yourself.
  • Sometimes negative thought process is a defense mechanism to not enjoy the positive things in your life. I could be in the most beautiful place in the world and find something to complain about! For me, it's all to not feel the good things in my life, to even out things. It's subconscious and really annoying. At least you notice it, that's half the battle.
  • I think it is a big form of depression and I go through that as well - Then they will put me on a medicine and it lifts
  • This happened to me too, back when I was in high school. Everything never seems to go my way or nothing seems to be right. As how Pattijo puts it, "it's a form of depression." I say start building confidence, self-esteem, and self-respect. Start a little by little. Create goals for yourself and acheive it, such as, "I'm going to run for one minute non-stop" or "I'm going to do 30 push-ups under a minute." I didn't take any medicine. I just hang out with friends and live life socially. Believe me, it's very very rewarding to love other people or be loved. Negative thoughts will vanish in no time. Of course, occasionally I'll think negatively but it's not a big burden that hinders my mind. I hope that helps.
  • You appear to be a very intelligent young man. Try not to feel so insecure and stop trying to please everyone or worry about what your peers think. Have confidence in yourself.
  • i love life my boyfriend gives me everything i just cant seem to start thinkin positve im always askin home stuiped stuff like do u love me i find myself focusing and worring about the negitve i need help i dont know what to do?
  • Well the first step is admitting it : )
  • Because you portray it that way and you don't need to. Everything that happens in your life negative or positive should have an impact on you're life and you should make the best of it and move forward.
  • I agree with others who answered that it's partly habit. You're so accustomed to thinking negatively at this point that you need to consciously stop when it happens and change your thinking. Find something positive in whatever you're thinking about. It will be work to retrain your thinking at first but after awhile it will be come easier. Good luck!
  • Negative thinking comes from the past experiences- the way you lived your life, and the way you have encountered things in your past life. Something is missing in your life which leads to negative thinking. I think best way to avoid negative thinking is just chill and feel happy in whatever you do.
