When I was little, we had lollies called "Fags" (which is slang for "cigarettes" in some countries, such as Australia and the UK). They came in a fake, kiddie-themed cigarette packet and were roughly the same size and shape of a real cigarette. They were white with a red tip as the "cherry" or lit end. I think they were made out of something similar to musk, but, yes, we used to pretend to smoke them before eating them, which is exactly what they were made for - for children to pretend to smoke but also to enjoy the sweet candy. It was a rather horrible idea. Years later they changed the name from "Fags" to "Fads", but whether or not that was because the term "Fag" is offensive, I'm not sure.

I remember doing that as a child. Today as an ex-smoker, I keep a lighter in the car and I hold it in my hand while I drive.

I remember thinking smoking was cool too growing up. When I was smaller we used to ahve these bubble gum cigarette that used to be rolled in some type of powder wrapped in white wrapper and you could puff on them and the powder asctually blew out as smoke would on a regular cigarette. I think we all growing up want to do whats supposely "cool".

Yes, with candy cigarettes. I wonder if they still are made? We would get them mostly around Halloween.

We "smoked" candy cigarettes when I was young. They had a candy kind and a gum kind. I also now sometimes absentmindedly "smoke" a pen or pencil. I used to smoke but have since quit.

Who remembers the candy cigarettes! I asked my mom if i could smoke when her friend that did, was visiting the house. We were like 10. She said yes, knowing we would hack up a lung and hate it so that we wouldn't want to do it when we were older. It worked!!! I hated it and still do. I think the more relaxed our attitude is sometimes the less exciting it makes the deed difusing it's intrigue. Who knows!?

Both my parents were chain smokers while I was growing up so I never thought smoking was "cool". I thought it was smelly and icky, and I couldn't understand why two otherwise intelligent people would do such a horrible thing. I didn't know what addiction was in those days.

When I was younger, I developed this odd nervous tic of holding my hand up in front of the bottom half of my face, with the first two fingers held slightly apart in front of my mouth, which I guess is kind of like "Mime Smoking" (It's a habit that's stuck with me to this day). So yes, I guess I do.
-
yes..pretend smoking in the winter, so that the steam from our mouths came out in puffs as pretend smoke. Oh, so sophisticated and stylish we felt!

I faked it and I smoked. My mother was a smoker and even though I am not, it was an easy transition for me to try it because I had been watching her do it my whole life.
