  • They are both christian religions. (they both believe in Christ) The main difference is the mormons believe that Jesus came back to early america, they also have additional books to the bible referred to as the book of mormon) In side these chapters lays the new rules and beliefs that separates Mormons, form other Christian releigions
  • I would say that ElSoupy's answer is pretty good. However, there is a little more to it than that. One of the big differences between us and most other Christian faiths is that we believe in the importance of continuing revelation. As such, we don't believe that the canon of scripture is closed and we do believe that God does continue to call prophets in modern times.
  • Mormons themselves believe they are Christians, in the sense that they believe in Christ, talk of Christ, and worship Him as their Lord and Savior as all Christians do. Perhaps the biggest difference between Mormons and other Christian sects is their interpretation of the early Christian creeds. Mormons believe God the Father, Christ the Son, and the Holy Ghost to be 3 separate beings, God the Father and Christ the Son being of the same essence with a body of Flesh and Bones. They do however believe them to be 1 in purpose and mission. Mormons do not subscribe to the early Christian creeds, as they believe to have a clearer vision of their intent to describe the Godhead due to the vision Joseph Smith (whom they believe to be a modern-day Prophet) had, where he saw God the Father, and Jesus Christ, as 2, distinct, separate beings. Other Christian religions believe the 3 to be one being. While the early Christian creeds, in their original context may not disagree with Mormon teachings, they also do not disagree with that of other Christian religions. The difference lies in the interpretation of those creeds, and the belief by the Mormons to have a vision of a Modern-Day prophet to tell of the true nature of God.
  • well ti depends on what from of christianaity. Hhere all a bit different. But some of the ones i know are different then most are; mormons believe God has a physical throne on a planet that circles the star kolob. Modern day prophets. A heavenly form of polygamy after you die. Eternalness of family. There idea of heaven is a bit different. There isn't just heaven and hell. Garments you wear under clothing. Being able to one day become like god and create your own worlds. Worshiping one god that made us but aknowledging that there are many gods.
  • Like the others have said, the main difference in the Latter-Days Saints is that we truly believe that Jesus Christ came to the America before it was found.. by the Europeans whom claim to have found this land (how can you claim to have found something when it already belongs to others.. lol whole diffrent topic..) Anyways... i wanted to bring this point John 10:16 "And other sheep i have, which are not of this fold: them, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd" For those whom do not know, this is Jesus Christ speaking to the believers/ prophets after conquering death. many migh say well he was just talking about the Gentiles... but if you recall, half way tru his ministry He began to teach the Gentilles... SO this is more than just Gentilles... He was speaking about the peopel of the Americas... "...there shall be one fold and one shepherd..." One world under one God... I hope this makes some sense
  • Mormons know where they came from why they are here on this earth and what eternity is all about. Thats the real difference. They both believe Jesus Christ is their Savior
  • Christians believe the Nicene Creed. Mormons have some unbiblical ideas like that Jesus and Satan are brothers. If they want their own 'other testament', that's there privilege. But it's wrong to invent their own version of Jesus and then claim that they're just like real Christians.
  • their both the same
  • Man why cant we all just read the Bible and live a life for God?
  • The underwear. The Mormons' are magic, the rest of the Christians wear Fruit of The Loom from Wal Mart
  • In Christianity you still have common sense. My 2 cents.
  • Those who believe the word of God (the Bible) know that we are saved by grace through faith and not by works...we also know that we should be very careful not to let made made traditions and rituals come before our relationship with God. A personal relationship with God is what He desires from us. The Bible does tell us in the end times old men will dream dreams and young men will see visions, which can come from God. Beware that satan is the master of deception and loves to counterfiet the real thing. God does not have flesh and bones....Jesus does...Jesus asended to heaven saying I must go so that the Holy Spirit can come...God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit are still all one but in differant forms.
  • Different name, same delusion
  • I think if you study from the source of books you will see that there are more similarities than differences and that the differences that have been pointed out above are really not what they appear. Of course, most people would have you believe that they are right. I am no different but I am cynical of some who claim to know about something but have a superficial understanding.
  • In my view, your acceptance into a particular religion is as much about what you don't believe as what you do. Jews and Christians both believe in the sacredness of the Old Testament of the Bible. Jews call this the Torah. Because Christians also believe that the New Testament is as sacred as the Old Testament and a cornerstone of their religion, they are not Jews. Because Mormons believe in the sacredness of the Book of Mormon (another testament of Jesus Christ), it seems to me that they are a religion apart from Christian. Mormons are to Christians what Christians are to Jews. These three religions may have similar foundations, but there are crossroads at which the diverged into different religions.
  • Guys, I love the zeal of the mormons to evangelise...which is a true sign of an obedient Christian. If you are a true Christian, better reach out there and share the gospel and stop lazying about...If we sleep others will do the work as they are led... Who leads them is the question!?
  • CHRISTIAN God is a spirit without flesh and bones (John 4:24; Luke 24:39). MORMON "The Father has a body of flesh and bones as tangible as man's," (Doctrine and Covenants 130:22; Compare with Alma 18:26-27; 22:9-10). "Therefore we know that both the Father and the Son are in form and stature perfect men; each of them possesses a tangible body . . . of flesh and bones," (Articles of Faith, by James Talmage, p. 38).
  • Mormonism: You have to endure to the end, in order to have eternal life. Christianity: The very thing that enables you to endure to the end is the eternal life you already have. Mormonism: Try to do things in order to have an identity and/or future in Christ. Christianity: Try to do things to be consistent with the identity and future you already have in Christ. Mormonism: The only sinful habits that can be forgiven are conquered ones. Christianity: The only sinful habits that can be conquered are forgiven ones.
