You will never know what is good if you do not know what is evil. Vice-Versa. Both of them should exist.

That is up to you to decide. If you believe in a world where morality is just relative I could shoot my neighbour and there would be nothing evil about it. If you give your money to a charity and someone gets to eat for a day without even knowing that it was you who paid for their meal, that is no doubt good.

No. There is that which is beneficial and that which is destructive. Both are necessary. The idea of good and evil is perspective based. What is good from one point of view may be evil from another.

Watch tonights tv news and then assess for yourself! It will be hard for you to believe that there is good and evil because all will probably appear bad! But take it from me there is some good out there and your thought provoking question will cause many others I am sure to tell you both sides of the story. For those who believe all is ultimatelu good how do you cope with the news?

I think they exist, but only as very fluid concepts which are perceived differently from person to person. My view of an evil act may completely differ to that of the next individuals, for example. I am not religious and feel the likelihood is that there are no set moral codes intended for us by divine beings but that good and evil have been created by mankind. I don't think the ideology can be discounted but I think there is no real universal code to define them by. The general view that certain acts are 'evil' such as murder and certain acts are 'good' such as saving someones life are beneficial, in that they help maintain the human race. Some would argue such views are instinctive and they are to, at least to some extent although many people seem breach them regularly. The concepts can function in this capacity but obviously this is not the only way of judging them. To me, 'good' and 'evil' exist on a personal level. I analyse things through my own inner moral code and come to the conclusion whether they are positive or negative in respect to this and thus good or evil. I would say the majority (if not all) of people do something similar, whether they have attained the moral code through religious means or simply through their general upbringing, however many individuals may not classify this directly as 'good' or 'evil'. This does not mean these moral codes will be exactly the same or even similar, indeed my opinion of an evil act may be a good act in some persons eyes (i.e I view an act of terrorism as evil, however an Islamic extremist fundamentalist may view it as a good thing). So, yes, I feel to a certain extent good and evil do exist but not as rigid set points with only a singular correct definition. Peoples opinion on what good and evil are vary depending on religious or non religious beliefs, environment, upbringing and personal experiences etc. I do not believe that there is any way of telling for sure that any set moral code is the correct one and think that one should follow their own whilst keeping an open mind towards any changes in the process.

I think good and evil exist in the mind. What one person thinks is good could be evil to another. And vice versa. The measuring sticks for good and evil exist in our own logic and do not have universal boundries. Do they exist? Yes- but what they are, I can not say.

As you grow you learn good win's

If you watch the news you know there is good and evil. To me this is not about whether someone is religious or not. To me you do not have to be religious to know it is evil when a father kills his child...I mean is there EVER any good or justifiable reason for someone to do that. I guess any crazy person might justify but rationally thinking people...no. All people are capable of doing good and evil at any given time.

When was the last time you read a newspaper or visited a cop shop? All of the above apply it depends on the individual.

Looking at the bigger picture, concerning politics, ideologies, etc., it's hard to say that there is an objective good or evil, it seems to be all relative. For example, when we were being oppressed by the British in the 1700's and fought back, we were Revolutionary heroes. When another country fights back against us oppressing or occupying their land, we're still the heroes, and they are called Terrorists or Insurgents. That kind of stuff is propaganda and relative to who's saying it. However, when people lie, cheat, steal, or kill for their own gain and disregard the consequences to others, I'd consider that indisputably and objectively evil.

Good and evil are descriptions on what you percieve to be good or bad, so they are opinions.

Love exists. What can be more life-affirming and positive than love? It's real. Love is the ultimate good. People who abuse children and animals - what would you call their actions if not evil? They inflict physical and emotional pain on creatures weaker than themselves for their own selfish reasons? They derive pleasure from hurting others. If that's not evil, I don't know what is.
