The grass is always greener on the other side. It is hard to be content with what you have. I think it is partly because media is always telling you to get this new great thing that will make life better. Or we see someone who has something that is great and we want it. There is usually something lacking, and once we will that hole another hole arises that needs to be filled.

I don't think it is human nature to want what you can't have. I think it's human nature to want things that we think will add to our enjoyment of life. I think it's possible to confuse what we think we want with what we really do want. We might think that our happiness is embodied in a particular person, in a particular job, or living in a particular place, so we may want it even if we know we cannot have it. The reality is, what we want is intimacy, personal achievement and quality of life, and we can all have those things.
