Most of the tax cheats are caught because somebody tells the IRS, somebody who is mad at the cheat, the cheating may have been going on for years and the somebody was perfectly happy with it or just didn't care. Ex-spouses, ex-employees, ex-employers, fueding relatives or neighbors, heirs that are pissed off by a will, such things as that. Occaisionally some other law enforcement agency will get the IRS involved, remember Al Capone was convicted of Tax evasion not murder or bootlegging or anything else that the feds really wanted him for. I dunno how many people work for the IRS, Google just gives me sites about how the IRS wants to know how many employeees I have. At "tax time" they hire part timers a college budy of mine worked for them in the spring. Unfortunatly he was never the guy who looked over my return and found all the refunds I forgot to claim. Now I think at least five employees work only on my paperwork, I just got my return returned because I left out one digit on a social security number, that number is only on the return at the top and at the bottom by the signature and three other places on the forms right beside the same name. Stupid IRS!!! What a bunch of morons! What?.. excuse me a minute.. what did you say? "The IRS monitors the internet?" Oh no! I di'n't say nothin', it wasn't me! Somebody else typed this.
to many, may they rot in Hell.

You're reading The IRS has many citizens to keep track of and few employees, so how do they find out about and catch somebody that doesn't pay taxes? How many people work for the IRS anyway?

LOL to the last few sentences! Still, how many people work for the IRS? What's the ratio of IRS workers to all U.S. citizens?

BTW, some government agencies never release the exact number of people who work for them.
