  • Because without it there would be no Holy Writ, no communicable basis. If the Bible were not true it would be a lie and worth nothing besides as a collection of stories, moral precepts, and some history. When we no longer regard the Bible as true we eventually lose our faith. Still, many Christians argue with each other about just what is the "literal" truth of the Bible.
