My 1992 Ford Ranger suddenly started producing a whining sound from the back left tire. You think it is a wheel bearing, or something more sinister?

    It could be a wheel bearing. Try some S turns to load and unload that side. If the noise changes with the load it is a very good bet it is a bearing.
