  • I think there are stereotypes like this about guys who are white AND are loners or somewhat outcasts. You are right that are no stereotypes just based on being white. I think it is because it is easier to treat people as individuals if they are more like you. So, when a white person sees that another white person does something horrible, he knows that it wasn't because of race because he is of the same race and does not do that. When it is someone of the "other" kind of people who does something wrong, it is easier to just lump everyone of the other group together. Because whites are the majority, it is much harder for stereotypes about all whites to become widely accepted than it is for stereotypes about minorities.
  • You are right, chexie. And yes, I think the FBI and others have profiles of such people. But, as they are part of a large majority, it is very difficult to spot them before they "act out".
