The naked flame is natuaral and represents the soul in some cases. if it is made artificially the purpose of it would be ruined right there on the spot. that is why temples still use it. i understand your concern about enviroment but if we really want to make a difference than we should dramatly reduce our consumption of gasoline and fossil fuels.
