I think parents should start by feeding their children healthy foods right away. Then it could be re-inforced in kindergarten.

Kids should be taught to eat healthy early in life, even before kindergarten. Don't treat veggies and fruit like a punishment. If they grow up liking them, they will continue to. Parents need to eat healthy. Kids watch their parents and will more than likely emulate what they see.

Parents should feed themselves a dose of common sense and let the kids play,that means running, riding bikes, swimming, playing tag, exploring... play is what makes kids healthy and opens their minds and makes them creative, quit hovering around them, quit watching everything they do. What kind of parent has to be prompted by kindergarten, in regards to their childs fat ass?

No. I think the home we provide for them should be the school and their healthy food choices will be as a result of what is available in the home so that by the time they get to kindergarten they will actually prefer carrot sticks or apples to candybars. It starts in the home. Mom should cook healthy food and talk about her choices and why. :) Kids live what they learn and can be guided very early on to prefer healthy food! :)
