  • In some cases yes...however, a particular definition of a word or cirumstance is relevant to the experiences of one's culture...so your question is dependent upon the particular circumstances and viewpoint of the questioner...and do we all have a headache, now???? ROTFL, and Mouse reaches for another beer....
  • it might be a technical term. the definition could be too technical and so the person may require a simplified meaning.
  • Yes people really are that lazy but they are spending their time on here. which makes it easier to ask here.
  • In my mind, posting a question on AB requires more effort than simply looking it up. Maybe they are trying to avoid being lazy.
  • Because you don't get points at Dictionary.com!
  • The truth: most of the time it's for the points. :):)
  • i no ay, Google it/ get a dictionary.
  • Its most definitely about "point" no if's or buts about it. Its "points".Finaly, its all about the "points"+4 Great question Mensan++++
  • I usually skip those because the dictionary on line would be more accurate. I'm also thinking it might be teen-agers doing their homework, not cool on ab. But the points do make sense. +5
  • What is the definition of lazy? I suppose it could be people on AB who ask for definitions instead of looking in the dictionary but its more fun asking on AB than looking into a boring dictionary don't you think?
  • Yea, sad isn't it.
  • When I ask such questions I don't expect people to run to the dictionary. I am asking them what the word means to them. There is a huge disparity among us as to the meaning of words. When I answer such a question I don't run to the dictionary and look up the meaning of the word unless someone is using a word in a way that puzzles me...then I go to the dictionary to verify that my understanding of the meaning is correct and then I will "quote" what my dictionary says so there is no confusion. :)
  • Not lazy just know some of us cant resist answering. they get points, we feel like smart arses.LOL
  • Now that there are plenty of "ONLINE" dictionaries, how many AB'ers still have the use of a printed text home dictionary, such as the Oxford Concise Dictionary?
  • Fair enough question. Maybe those who post thus just enjoy receiving an assortment of definitions from REAL PEOPLE rather than doing the work themselves, and I don't see anything much wrong with that. ...Now,where's that bellpush for ROOM SERVICE!!!!!
  • If I asked that, it's because I wanted to know what other AB users thought it meant and then point out what it really meant if they were wrong. +3
