Yes and no. If they are then people will pay dearly for the added convienance. Considering that very little happens at night I don't know that they could make enough to pay the extra expenses unless they did charge everyone dearly. If you find a vet hospital than they will usually have someone on call who will meet you in case of an emergency. All vets have someone on call 24/7 who you can call and talk to if there are problems. I do think vets should be open on Sat just in case something happens and for people who work during the week and can't get there though.

Yes accidents and pain happen to both groups night and day...it would provide work too!

Our vet, and many others, have an emergency number or give out their cell number so that they can be reached in emergencies. I had to call once at 9 PM on Christmas Eve & he met me at the office & stitched up my injured dog.

most hospitals are open 24 hours or at least have an emergency room, i live in a large city and there are several 24 hour vet clinics that are open. i have taken my dog to one such vet clinic. they stabilize the dog and refer you back to your regular vet the next day. but they do emergency care and emergency surgery when needed.

Yes, but even vets need rest. I wouldn't want my regular veterinarian to operate on my pet after a week without sleep.
