Father has lots of tax debt. Parents divorce and mother still has to help pay it off. Years later father dies. Does mother still have the tax obligation?

    Unfortunately, yes. It is tax liability incurred while they were married.

    when you die, all unpaid debts pass on to family members or in this case, the spouse.
    yes she has to pay.

    the dad dies, all his debt dies with him. all his credit card debt. that is one of the good thing about dieing. no more credit card debt. the mother could file bank rupcy.
