Boil pure hot water, add a dash of cinnamon, a little more than a dash of ginger, a tablespoon of molasses and drink. It works. :)

grate fresh ginger, add hot water and honey to taste.

Also, herbal tea "Traditional Medicinals - Throat Coat" will do the trick temporarily.

avoid alcohol and caffeine. they are diuretics.

The important thing with a sore throat is to stay hydrated. run a humidifier or vaporizer while you sleep. If you breathe with your mouth open at night, and it's dry, you'll just aggravate things.

Gargle with warm salt water...as warm as you can stand it. A mixture of honey and lemon can be soothing, too.

I have found Throat Coat Tea is wonderful..both my best friend Tony and I are singers and this stuff has gotten us through many gigs. Another good thing is hot honey and lemon..heat 8 oz of water with 2 tablespoons of lemon juice and 2 tablespoons of honey (you can adjust these amounts to taste but this is what works for me). Also drinking a tablespoon of olive oil coats the throat and soothes it. This is another trick that vocalists use. I have personally used all of these and I know they work.

A natural remedy I've found very helpful, though it sounds weird, is a tea made of ginger, red hot pepper and honey. It burns going down, but then it numbs everything and feels much better.

I agree with Babycakes...Gargle with warm salt water. Chloraseptic helps too although it tastes gross, it numbs your throat. If you start to run a fever make sure you see a doctor. It could become serious.

Tea of your choice some are better than others but if I say the wrong thing you might hit me! Add honey, fresh lemon and brandy.

It helps if you can get close to the pot to breath in the steam and if you can sip it hot.

(ready for the dr now haha)

Doctor's usually suggest gargling with salt and warm water. A little chloraseptic spray or a menthol cough drop will help numb the pain. You should really see a doctor though if this lasts more than a day or so or if you feel worse today, or if you have a fever. Hope you feel better soon!

    Garlic chicken broth.

    Gargle with warm salt water.

    Drink herbal teas.

    Take vitamins.

Drink some Xango or MonaVie if you can get some.

Use a steam vaporizer when you sleep.

    Don't talk too much.

    Suck on lozenges with zinc.

honestly some harshly acidic juices like cranberry juice or pure orange juice works the best for me you just have to drink a lot of it, and make sure it hits the sore part of you throat. It might sting a little but that's good it means its killing the bacteria. If you want you can mix alovera juice in with it, that stuff is packed with amazing nutrients to get you over any sickness. You can usually find it at any health food store, Its pricey though.

multi vitamins are good for an overall increase of bodily functions, but if you really want to boost your immune system an amazing product containing fucoidan, a brown seaweed extract, boosts your white blood cell count. Its called umi by agel.

Take a multivitamin to help support your immune system.

A tea or lozenge of slippery elm bark and honey works well to ease pain, stop an irritated cough, and loosen chest congestion. Coltsfoot tea is good for colds, but it tastes terrible. Most herbal teas and soups will be somewhat soothing. Sorbet is nice too.

Stay away from black tea- the tannins can irritate your throat more. Also avoid milk products- they promote mucus production.

For simple symptom relief try Aspergum.

I have been too poor to afford this so I have purchased fluffy type bubblegum and put half of an aspirin in it and chewed it instead.

I find that a teaspoon of lemon and honey is good also for cutting phlegm and soothing a mild sore throat. The aspergum is for a bad one.

Sipping theraflu also helps for a bad one, along with helping other flu symptoms.

That is not going to help whatever caused your sore throat. You have to let whatever illness go its course and, if you need, go to the doctor. If your sore throat persists past a week, call your doctor.

  • First you have to determine if it is a viral or bacterial infection. You can do this at the doctors office or there are home testing kits that you can get from medical supply.

If it is bacterial you probably need antibiotics. Some untreated bacterial infections can spread to the heart and become very serious.

If it is viral then there is no true cure. Only things that bring relief. Drink lots of hot liquids, eat a soft diet, rest a lot, and try not to strain your voice. Throat lozenges can help but some say that sucking on hard candy has the same effect. Some lozenges don't contain any medication anyways.

gargle in warm salt water before you go to bed. That always helped mine. About 1 tbl spoon of salt to 1/2 cup of water gargle & then spit it out a couple of times. If that don't help, sore throat spray helps relieve it.

Famous recipie from Bulgaria (Europe) In a pot put 4 tablespoons Vodka, 1/8 of a butter stick and 2 tablespoons honey. Let it boil. take it off and let it cool a little bit until you can actually drink it without burning yourself. Drink as fast as you can. Its actually pretty good. Works like a charm. I always get really bad soar throat to the point where I can't talk. This is the best way for me. Weird I know but works. Hope you get well soon.
